Finally, some action on Leeuwendeel again! Personally, I had been looking forward to updating the website for a long time, but due to a lack of time, it simply didn't happen.

It certainly wasn't easy. The old site ran on Joomla 3, a version that is no longer supported. Because of this, I completely rebuilt the look and feel of the website: whereas I previously used Artisteer as a template builder, I have now designed the site entirely by hand without any external design software.

There were also several challenges on the functional side. The genealogical section of the site runs on Joaktree, a wonderful extension. The original developer stopped maintaining it, and although others have taken over the project, I ran into quite a few issues while using it. With a dose of creativity (and the help of AI to quickly reach solutions), most of these problems have now been solved.

And... if I say so myself: the website is looking sharp again! Behind the scenes, there will still be some fine-tuning here and there, but as a visitor, you can now fully explore the site again.
